Professional Dedicated To The Preservation Of Invertebrates Is Accepted By Stanford Who's Who

Stephen J. Fellenburg has earned his way into Stanford Who's Who for his incredible body of work in the field of preservation.

MACARTHER SQUARE, NSW, AUSTRALIA, December 23, 2009 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stephen J. Fellenburg has earned his way into Stanford Who's Who for his incredible body of work in the field of preservation. Fellenburg is the President of Friends of the Long Lost Phasmid Inc. where he has routinely exhibited an extreme level of dedication.

Friends of the Long Lost Phasmid is a group of dedicated individuals interested in the survival of the Lord Howe Island Stick Insect which is also known as Phasmid. The creature was once abundant on the island until a ship sunk in 1918 unleashing rats upon the shore that devoured the vast majority of Phasmids, leaving them all but extinct by the mid 1930's.

Finally in 2003, two specimens were acquired by Fellenburg, and Entomologist. He has been breeding them ever since and founded the group in 2006. The aims of the organization are to establish a breeding group in New South Wales, broaden awareness in the Phasmid, raise funding for university-based research, re-establish the Phasmid on Lord Howe Island, and learn more about other threatened species.

Fellenburg always had a great interest in insects and other invertebrates. He has been preparing and giving demonstrations to students of all ages since 1992. Stephen has worked with the Centre of Entomological Research in Insecticide Technology at UNSW and has assisted with the National Parks Association as a team leader on a number of biodiversity surveys. It was in the process of doing volunteer work at the Australian Museum Sydney when the Phasmids first caught his attention.

Stephen has received an Associate's Diploma in Biological Technologies at the Sydney Institute of Technology. He has also completed a vast number of courses including an Entomological Technical Training Course at CSIRO. Fellenburg is Accredited from the NSW Department of Education and earned a Certificate IV in Adult Education from NSW TAFE.

Stephen is a member of the Entomological Society of NSW and The Society for Insect Studies.
